</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>"We're gonna get a couple different opinions," said Kubiak. "He's gonna miss some time. ... There's big concern, obviously." Kubiak wouldn't put any concrete timetable on Johnson's injury, but it sounds like the Texans are bracing for a multi-week absence. Kubiak confirmed that Jacoby Jones will step into the starting lineup, opposite Kevin Walter. Fantasy owners need to hang onto Johnson, but it's possible that he won't be on the field anytime soon.

We've been taking Clayton's injury updates with a grain of salt, as he often seems to be reading tea leaves as opposed to reporting. We do believe that Johnson will not be available this week, however.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>Kubiak did indicate that he's been impressed with Johnson's progress, saying "it amazes you just how far he’s come so quickly." Speculation that Johnson's recovery was behind schedule appears unwarranted. The Texans' game-day wide receivers against the Ravens are likely to be Kevin Walter, Jacoby Jones, KR Trindon Holliday, and either Derrick Mason or Bryant Johnson.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>The Texans' Week 7 plan appears to involve Johnson returning to limited practice reps later in the week. He would sit out one more game and return in Week 8 (in an ideal scenario). "There’s still progress to be made," acknowledged coach Gary Kubiak. "Maybe he gets on the field and practices before the week’s out. I don’t know right now. But he continues to progress."

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>Johnson is expected to practice this week "at some point" after running routes at full speed late last week. "Andre had a really good day of work today," added Kubiak. A Wednesday return to the practice field would bode particularly well. The Texans will square off with the Jaguars in Week 8.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>"I felt a lot better in practice," said Johnson, "but not where I want to be." Johnson still feels some "tugging" in the back of his leg, but the good news is that he pushed himself harder by doing one-on-one drills with cornerbacks Thursday. Asked if he would play Sunday, Johnson replied, "I'm not sure yet. We're just taking it day by day." Kubiak has deemed his star receiver a game-time decision.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>Deemed a game-time decision by coach Gary Kubiak earlier in the day, Johnson will likely have to turn in a full practice on Friday to take the field against the Browns. Both the Houston Chronicle's John McClain and ESPN's Adam Schefter expect the Texans to hold Johnson out until he's 100 percent. Missing two straight practices is a strong sign he's not near 100 percent.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>The Texans elected to take things easy with Johnson today after he ran four of the past five days. He is expected to work out on Thursday, but will not practice. Unless his hamstring huge progress in the next two days, it's hard to see the Texans activating Johnson against the Bucs. His most likely return date remains Week 12.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>Johnson has all but guaranteed he'll play against the Jaguars, and as long as he is able to turn in a full practice Wednesday and wake up without any unusual discomfort on Thursday, he should be good to go. Coming off a seven-week layoff and adjusting to life with Matt Leinart, Johnson likely won't be in for a blockbuster Sunday, but needs to be back in your lineup in all formats.

We would play Johnson with confidence against the Rashean Mathis-less Jaguars in Week 12.
